Chapter 2

Selena’s POV:


The first day of school this year, ended pretty fast. The rest of the day on school I didn’t heard much about Rose and Lindsay and to be honest, I was happy I didnt. I’m happy that Rose got a friend, otherwise she would be the whole time with me!

I walked with Taylor to my house, she would sleep over at me because her parents went to Paris for a month. Demi had a serious talk on school with her parents because last year she skipped a lot of classes and Justin was…I don’t know where he was right now, I also didn’t heard a lot about him after math.

We walked inside and we saw my mom looking in a cooking book, and I knew what that meant, there coming guests

‘Oh, Hi Sel, Hi Taylor!’ My mom greeted us.

‘Who’s coming tonight?’ I asked straight up.

‘Well, me and Brian thought that it would be fun if we invited Justin’s family to come for dinner, and we also invited Rose and her family so we can welcome them in LA!’ my mom said, taking the next cooking book on the table.

‘What? Rose and Justin? On the same time?’ I asked shocked. I looked at Taylor but she obviously didn’t knew why I was so shocked.

‘Yes! Ehh…I need to go to the supermarket, to get all the stuff for tonight!’

‘All right! How late everybody comes?’ I asked.

‘630, if you two go outside, make sure that you come on time!’ my mom walked to the hall and did her jacket en shoes on.

‘All right!’

‘Okay, by girls!’

When Taylor heard the door shut, she looked at me confused. ‘Why you looked so shocked when your mom said that Rose and Justin came tonight on the same time?’

‘Ehh…what? Oh, that was nothing!’ I lied.

‘Don’t lie, there probably was something, otherwise you wasn’t so shocked!’

‘You remember what Demi said?’ I asked.

‘Demi’s says a lot, so I don’t know what you mean!’

‘Well, she said that I could lose Justin by another girl! What if that girl is Rose? She already stole a boyfriend last year in Texas!’

‘What? What did she do?’

‘Well…I had a boyfriend for almost 6 months, and I thought everything was all right, I loved him so much and I thought he did the same until…I saw him and Rose walking upstairs hand in hand at my birthdayparty…and I think you know what happened upstairs!’ I whispered, holding tears back.

‘What? Gosh, your boyfriend was a fucking jerk!’ Taylor said shocked. ‘And what did you do with Rose?’

‘Nothing. Even if I did something, my mom would go crazy and I was always the one who needed to say “sorry” even if it was Rose who was a bitch!’

‘Gosh, your cousin is such a bitch! I can’t believe you still didn’t slapped her for what she did with your boyfriend!’

‘Yeah, whatever!’ I sighed. ‘Can we talk about other things?’

‘Wanna make homework, so that’s over for this week?’ Taylor asked, grabbing our bags.

‘Ugh…yeah sure!’

We walked upstairs, to my room and made our homework with a song what my best friend, Justin, wrote, Die in Your Arms.

That Night:

My mom was cooking the last things, Brian would be home in 5 minutes, Justin’s family and Rose’s family would be here in an halve hour, and Taylor and I were just watching TV in my room.

‘Sel, you got 2 messages!’ Taylor handed me the phone.

One was from Demi and the other one was from Justin. I just read that from Demi first:

I’m busted! My parents know about me and skipping class, so we talked about it on school, and my mom decided that she will bring me everyday to school, you can believe it? I can’t skip school now!

I laughed about the thought Demi was upset she can’t skip classes.

‘Why you laughing?’ Taylor asked.

‘Demi’s parents know about Demi skipping school and her mother decided to bring Demi everyday to school, so she can’t skip school anymore!’

‘Ahh, poor Demi!’ Taylor laughed. ‘And from who is the other text?’

‘From Justin!’

I unlocked my phone and clicked on Justin’s text:

Did you know about that dinner? I didnt!

I clicked on ‘reply’ and texted back:

Yeah, I just know! Also Taylor is here!

I clicked on the ‘send’ button and threw my phone on my bed.

‘Sel, can I ask you something?’ Taylor asked, looking serious.

I simply nodded.

‘Why you just don’t tell Justin about your crush?’

‘Ugh…I don’t know, because- because I’m scared that things will go awkward between me and Justin and then I really lost Justin as a friend!’

‘Sometimes you need to take risks before you get the best!’

The time was going fast, the 30 minutes were over and it was now 630! I wasn’t really in for that stupid dinner, especially with Rose!

I heard the doorbell rang and me and Taylor walked downstairs.

I opened the door and we saw Rose, her mom Jessica, her brother Mason and her step father Cody.

‘Hi Selena, hi Taylor!’ Rose faked a smile.

I looked at Taylor who looked angry at Rose, I gave her a look and she turned into a smile, a fake one of course.

Taylor and I gave everyone a hug and walked back upstairs.

‘Rose’s family is nice, though!’ Taylor said.

‘I know, only Rose is the problem!’

We heard the doorbell and walked downstairs again, to open the door but Rose already did and was talking to him.

Justin’s POV:

I walked out the car with my dad, my step-mom and my siblings Jazzy and Jaxon.

‘Are we at Selly’s house?’ Jazzy asked excited.

‘Yeah, we’re at Selly’s!’

I lifted Jazzy up so she could press the doorbell.

We all thought it would be Selena, who opened the door, but instead of her, it was another girl who opened it! She wasn’t Selena, but she looked so much like her, it was crazy.

‘Oh, you must be Justin!’ she smiled. ‘I’m Rose, Selena’s cousin.’

‘Oh…? I mean, yeah I’m Justin!’ I smiled back, probably like an idiot, cause she laughed like I was crazy or something.

When Jazzy heard Selena’s voice, she jumped out of my arms and ran inside with a following Jaxon behind her.

‘Selly!’

‘Lena!’

It was so cute how close my siblings and Selena were, they loved each other so much. Selena was like a sister for them.

Selena’s POV:

I saw Justin and Rose talking, but I couldn’t hear what they said to each other and looked at Taylor.

‘Just come!’ she pulled me with her down the stairs

‘Selly! Lena!’ I heard two cute voices and soon I felt Jazzy and Jaxon hugging my feet.

I bent down so I could see them better and hugged them tightly.

‘Why you didn’t come after Canada?’ Jazzy asked acting angry.

‘Because, I was in Texas, baby girl. But I’m here right now!’

‘You have dolls? I wanna play dolls with you!’

‘Yeah, we play dolls after dinner!’

Jazzy and Jaxon walked in the living-room, and I walked to Justin and his parents, giving them and Justin a hug.

Rose walked back to the living-room. I could feel that she felt a little awkward, standing there.

‘Who is that girl?’ Justin whispered when we hugged.

‘My cousin.’

‘She’s pretty!’

I just ignored what Justin said and we all walked to the living-room.

When Brian and Justin’s dad saw each other, they started to talk, just like my mom and Justin’s step-mom.

‘What Justin whispered in your ear?’ Taylor asked.

‘Ugh…nothing, he just asked who Rose was and…that she was pretty!’

‘WHAT!?’ Taylor screamed.

‘Gosh, Tay! Not everybody has to hear this! Keep calm. I’m the one with the stupid feelings and not you, I need to react like you!’

‘Sorry!’ she whispered.

After a few minutes we walked to the kitchen and sat down

We just finished dinner, and everybody was doing there own thing: Brian and Justin’s dad were watching TV next to Jaxon on the couch, who was playing with some toys. My mom and Justin’s step-mom were doing the dishes. Me, Taylor and Jazzy were playing with dolls in my room and Justin and Rose were talking with each other outside. Her family already leaved after the dinner, but Rose wanted to stay.

‘Selly?’ Jazzy started. ‘Justin likes Rose?’

‘What?’ Oh ehh…I don’t know, you need to ask Justin, not me!’ I said simply.

‘I don’t want him to like Rose! Rose is stupid! He needs to like you!’ Jazzy said playing further with her dolls.

I looked up at Taylor who was smirking at what Jazzy just said.

‘Do you like my brother?’ Jazzy asked looking innocent.

What I need to answer on this question?!

‘What? No! I mean, yes…but like a-like a friend!’ I lied.

Justin’s POV:

After the dinner, I was outside with Rose. We talked about stuff, and asked each other questions.

‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ I asked, but I regretted right after I asked it.

‘Nope! Do you have a girlfriend?’

I shook my head.

‘Oh!’ she said suprished. ‘I thought you and Selena had something!’

‘What?’ No we’re just best friends!’ I quickly said.

I had a little crush on her last year when I knew her for the first time. It’s not that I don’t like her now, because I do, I do like her but after that little crush, I never really thought about Selena like a girlfriend, but just a best friend or a younger sister or something.

‘I like you!’ I blurted out.

‘I like you too!’ she smiled.

Selena’s POV:

‘I don’t wanna go! I wanna stay with Selena!’ Jazzy screamed.

‘Jazzy! We can hang out again another day, but now you need to go to home, to sleep!’ I tried to calm down.

‘No your lying! You told me the same thing when we came back home but you didn’t come the rest of the summer!’ Jazzy asked with tears rolling down her cheek.

‘But this time I promise! We hang out the next weekend! Then we play dolls!’ I smiled.

‘Okay! But if you lying again, I’m gonna be angry!’ she walked over to me and gave me a hug.

Jaxon was sleeping, so we all needed to be a little quiet!

Justin gave me and Taylor a hug and then they all walked outside.

The next one who needed to leave was Rose, she already was too late because she told her mom that she would be home at 800 but it was already 900.

Rose hugged Brian and my mom in the living-room and then walked over to me.

‘So, Sel ehh…thank you for not hating me after what I did with your boyfriend last year!’ she said awkwardly.

She basically apologized to me! Why would she do that when she is usually a bitch?

‘Ehh…no problem…I guess!’ I smiled

‘Can I ask you something?’

I nodded and waited for her question.

‘Do you like Justin, and then I mean like…do you have any feelings for Justin?’

Why she asked this? I couldn’t tell her the truth because I still didn’t trust her. ‘No, I mean, he is sweet, but he is just my best friend!’ I lied.

‘Okay, then can I have him? I really like him and I think he also likes me!’ she smiled.

‘WHAT?’ I asked shocked. I was speechless, I knew she would fall for Justin! ‘Ehh…yeah of course you can have him!’ I whispered.

‘Thank you, thank you so much!’ she pulled me in for a hug and then walked outside.

What in the world I did just do? I just ruined my life by myself! All the time I was scared that Rose will fall for Justin and that Justin will fall for Rose and that happened and I even told Rose that she could have Justin! I hate myself!!!
